Empty to Full

“When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Luke 5:4

Jesus had taken notice of the empty boats earlier (v2) and then He listened to Simon explain to Him that they worked all night and yet had caught nothing (v5). Yet Jesus still asked Simon (Peter) to drop the net and try yet again no matter how tired, weary or frustrated he was.

God knows when we have fallen short, when we have failed, when we have fallen down wounded, when we are broken inside and when we have sinned against Him. Yet He will ask us to try again. Why? Why use those of us that have clearly lacked in the past, have failed, fallen and are hurting? Why?

It is God’s eternal nature. It is His mercy, His love, His strength and His undying hope. We from our perspective can see our past as a multitude of failures and might have’s, but God views it as opportunities for us to learn, grow, trust in Him and see Him at work in and around our lives. Just because we have failed in the past does not mean we are doomed to future failure. Just because we have sinned in the past does not mean we are doomed to a life without righteousness. Just because we are broken inside does not mean we are incapable of experiencing joy.

“And when they had done this (lowered the net as Jesus asked), they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.” Luke 5:6

As King David once sang: “…Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5b

Pray and fast for Orange with an attitude of hope. That the falling away of Christ followers and the dwindling church is not a projection of what the future will be, but only an opportunity to see those things reversed for the glory of God.

Crossroads Baptist Church was founded in 2001 with the vision of creating a church that people would love to attend and one that will continually impact the next generation for Christ. Our beliefs are founded in the Word of God, it is what and how we teach from our Sunday Services to our Life Groups.
